"The Society of the Snow" is a book about the incredible true story of a group of survivors who were stranded in the Andes mountains after a plane crash. They were without shelter or food, enduring freezing temperatures at an altitude of 4000 meters. Author Pablo Bierzi accompanies a group of survivors and their children back to the mountain, where each of the 16 survivors recounts their experiences during the 72 days in the mountains, how they overcame the extreme situation, and how the accident and its aftermath impacted their lives.
